Caring for Brows and Lashes Between Appointments
A great brow or lash appointment is only half the story. What you do between visits decides whether the result stays crisp for weeks or fades in days. The good news is that aftercare is mostly about what not to do, and none of it is complicated.
The first day or two matters most. After a tint, lift or lamination, keep the area dry for the first twenty four to forty eight hours: no steamy showers straight onto the face, no swimming, no heavy workouts that leave you dripping. The treatment needs that window to set properly.
Check what your cleanser is made of. Oil-based cleansers and makeup removers are brilliant at dissolving things, which is exactly the problem: they dissolve tint and break down lash adhesive too. Around the eyes and brows, an oil-free cleanser makes every treatment last noticeably longer.
Hands off is a rule worth keeping. Rubbing your eyes twists lifted lashes out of shape and rubs tint away from the brow line. If you wear lash extensions, sleeping face-down does the same job overnight. Most people adjust within a few days of their first set.
Give your brows thirty seconds a day. A quick brush with a clean spoolie keeps laminated brows sitting in shape and distributes the skin's natural oils, which keeps the hairs healthy. If a stray appears mid-cycle, leave it: one stray is invisible, an over-plucked patch takes months to grow back.
Resist the tidy-up tweeze between appointments. The shape your therapist built accounts for how each hair sits and grows, and a few well-meant plucks can undo it. If something genuinely bothers you, a five minute tidy at the studio protects the shape; freelancing in the bathroom mirror rarely does.
Sun and salt water are the great faders. Tint breaks down faster under strong sun and after long days in the pool or sea, so on holidays expect the colour to soften sooner and book accordingly. A hat and sunglasses slow the fade and are hardly a hardship.
Know your rebooking rhythm. Brow shaping and tint generally hold their best for three to four weeks. Lash lifts run six to eight weeks with the natural lash cycle, and extension wearers usually book infills every two to three weeks. Booking the next visit before the current one wears out keeps you in the easy zone.
Finally, tell your therapist what is going on around your face. New skincare with retinol or strong acids near the brows, new medication, a reaction you noticed last time: these change how treatments behave, and a therapist who knows can adjust before there is a problem rather than after.
